Are you a student interested in turning your creative passion into a profession? Join us for the Art & Industry: Building Your Creative Career event, an evening designed to help you explore careers in the arts, connect with creative professionals, and gain insights from successful alumni!

Coordinated in partnership with the UMBC Office of Alumni EngagementCenter for Art Design and Visual Culture, and the UMBC Department of Visual Arts, this is a "must-attend" Career Month event for arts students looking to expand their network and career opportunities!

EVENT AGENDA - 

4:30 PM - 5:30 PM:

5:30 PM Alumni Career Panel: Hear from UMBC graduates working in various areas of the arts. Learn about their journeys, challenges, and advice for aspiring creatives. See Handshake event for full bios! Panelists include:

  • Ally Kocerhan ‘16, Theater Studies and Gender + Women’s Studies - Assistant Director for Engagement, Linehan Artist Scholars Program, UMBC
  • Jim Lord '99, Visual Arts/Graphic Design - AVP for Brand & Creative Strategy, University Communications and Marketing, UMBC
  • Leah Prescott '19, Music Education and Jazz Studies - Band Director, Landon School
  • Tim Provost '22, Music Education - Program Manager, DC Youth Orchestra Program

6:00 PM Networking with Employers and Alumni: Meet local organizations and professionals who hire creatives. Connect with Retriever Alumni in creative fields. Ask meaningful questions and make important professional connections! UMBC's Career Month is an opportunity for all students from first year to PhD to explore their professional options through workshops, alumni chats, industry fairs, employer site visits, and more.
